No trip to Switzerland is complete without a visit to Jungfraujoch, known as the ‘Top of Europe.’ This unforgettable day out takes you to Europe’s highest train station at 3,500m, and deep into a UNESCO-listed wonderland of ice, snow and staggering alpine views.

You’ll travel by coach to the pretty mountain town of Grindelwald, where the brand-new Eiger Express gondola whisks you up to Eiger Glacier station. From there, it’s all aboard the cogwheel train for a scenic climb past the mighty Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau peaks. The drama of the North Face of the Eiger seems close enough to touch.

At the summit, it’s a high-altitude playground of eternal ice, snow and rock. Wander through the magical Ice Palace inside the glacier and take in the views from the Sphinx Observation Terrace. Think rugged, snow-capped peaks, and the Aletsch Glacier, Europe’s longest. Marking the 100-year anniversary of the Jungfrau Railway is the Alpine Sensation experience, where you’ll discover the story of the Jungfrau Railway.

The descent takes you via the peaceful, car-free village of Wengen and on to Lauterbrunnen, where your coach ride back to Interlaken wraps up this epic alpine adventure.

It goes without saying that the views from the top of Jungfrau are amazing and it’s worth going but I’m not sure I’d recommend this. Even with a money off voucher, it was overpriced for what you get. While it was good to have the coach travel to and back from the base of the mountain, it’s not necessary. The short coach ride meant that commentary was minimal and there was a bun fight for the ‘best’ seats on each leg of the journey.
