Journey from Krakow to the town of Oświęcim to explore one of the darkest chapters in Europe's history. You'll learn how more than 1.5 million people were sent to the camps by the Nazi regime and put to death during World War II. Founded in 1947, the memorial was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 for the important story it relates.

Pay your respects to the victims of the Holocaust, while hearing details about life at the camp, where original features, along with personal possessions that belonged to the prisoners, are a reminder of the horrors that should never happen again.

When booking this trip we booked for 0930. We then received a number of emails changing our time for pick eventually we then got told over the phone that we were to be picked up at 1220pm. We had no choice but to agree due to landing in Poland the day before and not having enough time to rearrange on another day. I would recommend people to organise this yourself when you arrive in Poland and it is also cheaper doing it this way.

Excursion time got changed two days before we were going to leave, later in day and then late picking up but driver communicated well but 2pm start of tour and then rushed and dark when we were leaving, information about the countryside on journey would have been nice

It has to be done to witness the sheer scale of what went on……and whilst you cannot say this is enjoyable…..the way it is done is respectful, educational and harrowing at the same time… The only thing we had an issue with was the tour guides sound system as it was clanging around a lot

It would have been nice to have little time for a break to have a coffee and look at the books at the end but this was an amazing experience.

Pick-up for this tour can be between 5:30AM and 3:00PM (with the possibility of earlier or later times), so be prepared for possible changes. It is recommended to reserve a full day for this tour.
The time provided in the booking and your voucher (9:30AM) is the most common time provided by the museum and does not depend on the local operator. The exact pick-up time will be confirmed by customer service or the driver on the day before the tour.

Due to the extremely high visitors’ volume and internal policies, Auschwitz-Birkenau reserves the right to cancel tours or guides at any time, even a few days or hours before the visit. If this happens, you will be informed and if possible, offered an alternative date or program
All visitors are required to pass through security checks before entering the museum grounds
