Located on the Ionian Sea, at the eastern end of the Otranto Channel, you'll find the Marine Protected Area of Karaburun. This natural park was established in 2010 to safeguard the area's distinctive biodiversity.
Your journey begins from Durrës in a comfortable minivan or bus, arriving in Vlora after a short break for coffee and breakfast. Once there, you'll check in at the boat.
Next, you'll set sail to the Haxhi Ali Cave, located at the tip of the Karaburun Peninsula. This cavern stretches 30 meters long, 18 meters high, and 12 meters wide, boasting impressive rock formations, stalactites, and even a freshwater spring. After your guided tour, you can indulge in some snorkelling in the crystal clear waters or unwind with a beverage on board.
The adventure continues along the untamed coast where you'll admire striking beaches such as Shen Jani, Aquamarina, and San Basil. You'll stop for lunch at Zhanpovel Beach, savour local delicacies by the sea.
In the early afternoon, you'll return along the Vlora coast, passing Zhironi and Kalasa beaches and the Cold Water district.
The Haxhi Ali Cave is named after the Albanian pirate Haxhi Alia Ulqinaku (1569–1623), who defended these coasts from Venetian and French invasions, becoming a celebrated local hero in traditional songs.
