Bali Melasti Beach traditional Kecak dance show tickets

The Kecak dance, a creation of the 1930s by Balinese artist Wayan Limbak and German painter Walter Spies, draws its inspiration from the Sanghyang dance. This sacred Balinese dance is traditionally performed in Hindu temples with the aim to ward off misfortune and disease. The original Kecak dance was exclusively performed by men aged 50 years and above. The name 'Kecak' stems from the word “Cak… cak… cak…” which is rhythmically chanted throughout the performance.

In earlier times, the Kecak dance was confined to specific areas like Bona Village in Gianyar Regency. However, as time passed, it has spread across Bali, becoming a staple at special occasions to welcome guests.

Today, you can witness this mesmerising dance drama in almost all corners of Bali, particularly in destinations steeped in culture.
