Musica Coelestis concert at Salzburg's Cathedral

“In truth, one might have believed oneself to be in heaven, yes, among the heavenly choirs.” – This is how an eyewitness described the solemn consecration of the cathedral almost 400 years ago.

This experience is brought back to life in the concert series “Heavenly Sounds – musica coelestis,” when Advent music from galleries, balconies, and the dome fills the cathedral with a special atmosphere and, for a few moments, makes it possible to feel how heaven and earth meet.

The programme:

  • November 29, 6:00 p.m. – Salzburg Cathedral, Heavenly sounds – musica coelestis, Advent sounds between tradition and improvisation, Andreas Gassner with choir
  • December 6, 6:00 p.m. – Salzburg Cathedral, Heavenly sounds – musica coelestis, Macht hoch die Tür, Ensemble Hackbrettivo
  • December 13, 6:00 p.m. – Salzburg Cathedral, Heavenly sounds – musica coelestis, Ver sacrum – Offertories by Andreas Hofer, Mozarteum vocal Ensemble and the Baroque Ensemble of the University of Salzburg
