The island is a haven of peace and tranquillity, with narrow, serene lanes and red ochre houses adorned with bougainvilleas adding to its undeniable charm. Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Gorée Island serves as a poignant reminder of history, having seen millions of people pass through before being taken to America as enslaved people.

Your visit will include a tour of former slave houses, St Charles' church, and the historical museum. You'll also have the opportunity to stroll down the alleyways and explore local painters' workshops. Enjoy lunch at a charming restaurant on the island before returning to Dakar in the early afternoon.

In Dakar, the heart of western Africa's political, economic and cultural reunification, you'll embark on a city tour. This includes a visit to the bustling "plateau" district, where you'll see key landmarks such as the railway station, city hall, Independence Square, and the Presidential Palace. This journey offers a blend of serene beauty and rich history, making it an unforgettable experience.

It would have been beneficial to have had more English explanations in the museum

There was a lot packed in which was good and bad. It was great to visit so many places but not enough time at each. The trip was worth the journey time from pointe sarene and lunch was well cooked and served. We didn't have time for Dakar market but it didn't spoil the day. Our guide was very informative and friendly with a sense of humour, keeping us entertained. This trip was an absolute must for our stay in Senegal; we would consider coming again and spending more time on Goree Island.

The guide was very good, really enjoyed the trip to Goree Island and the tour around Dakar afterwards.

We felt we was rushed along, but what we saw was very interesting. The guides was good.

The experience was cancelled the day before with no explanation , we had to reschedule for Friday or Saturday which we did. We were the only English on the trip everyone else was French. All the commentary was in French so we did not understand any of it. We were allocated an English speaking guide who was very good but he could only point out places of interest as he was not in charge of the microphone
